Summer Week Four

Week Four was spent in bed nursing the flu but by the 4th of July we were bouncing back.

Storm clouds hung through out the day thus it turned out to be a slow roll out of fireworks.  This ensured that the firework stand Andy purchased, could be enjoyed... so...popping and booms during breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Mother Daughter Backpacking Trip #1

"I think water from my backpack is getting me wet". - LDC
"Nope.  That is called humidity". - me

Routine stops along the trail for candy, water and literally drying off with a towel.

And then...we finally saw our destination down below.

Lake Keowee

"Mommy, hurry and take the picture so we can get down there and jump in the water."

T3

Our room with a view, for a few days.

(6:15 AM ,  breaking camp for the return)

"Would you want to backpack again?" - me

"Not tomorrow.  But next month works for me." -LDC

(reading Little Women)

Wrap Up to our Lake Life Trip was a night at Oconee State Park...in a cabin...with a bed...and air conditioning.

Seafaring

If you want children to keep their feet on the ground, put some responsibility on their shoulders.

If you do the crime, you do the time.

Just kidding.

More like LDC spend her Spring Break looking like so:
Granise greeted her with a delectable chocolate treat, which she enjoyed while watching the sunset on the dock.

Rough life.

Not.

North Carolina's Outer Banks
A Land of Wild Horses, Southern Charm & The Sea

So you would think that you get to the top of the sand dune and would see water directly on the other side.
Right??

Nope.
A couple ridges later and then the Sound.

Relaxation with a view

(and a lively hourly neighborhood turf war that included a crackle and a hawk)

Adventure.

After consulting the car manual, we were off to drive the path less taken sand ruts.

Although we didn't see any horses on the beach we did...

in the maritime forest.

Spring Break 2022
We had a tun of fun.

Winter or Spring

Is it Winter or is it Spring?

I had this post "sitting" in my drafts since the 20th of February.

I feel (literally) the weather has been the same...Last night it dipped into the 30's.

The power went out.

Lunch a-la fireside.

No sled? No problem.

"There’s a long tradition in the South of makeshift homemade sleds. In fact, I’d argue that snow sleds repurposed or created from household materials are the traditional sleds for snow days in the South."

FYI
Top DIY sleds:
Garbage can lid.
Baking sheet.
Cafeteria tray.
Air mattress.
Spare shelving.
Cat litter box. (what??. seems a little desperate)
