Mycobacterium vaccae

With International Mud Day around the corner, we hosted a celebratory playgroup for our toddler friends.

"Scientists have discovered something that children have always known - playing in the mud can lift your mood.  Recent studies have revealed that dirt contains microscopic bacteria called Mycobacterium vaccae which increases the levels of serotonin in our brains, helping to relax, soothe and calm." http://www.livescience.com

way past her bedtime

Summer is here.
LDC's evening bath had been given and bedtime was around the corner but with the late setting of the summer sun (and finally a break in the rain) we headed outside to get sweaty, sandy and dirty all over again.
Bubbles, chalk and paint

Rainwater that had collected in our pots and pans helped to make sandcakes and sandcookies
Yard work starting at 7PM
Finally winding down (and letting the sweat evaporate) by heading inside and practicing colors on our makeshift light table.
A view for two at 9PM

Sesame Workshop and Sesame Street began as an experiment in 1968, and the show debuted on November 10, 1969. The series was designed to use television to teach preschoolers, and give them skills that would ensure a successful transition from home to school...From the beginning, Sesame Street has been the most thoroughly researched and tested television show ever produced, and it has received more Emmy Awards than any other program in television history. http://www.sesameworkshop.org/
