I declare

This morning I gave LDC her coffee (Ovaltine) and she declared,
"Mommy, this is hotter than a french fry".
Gotta love weekend mornings with your kid
From this past week:
Yep, Kris Kringle is actually next to her.
The meeting was all business.
No eye contact or talking from LDC.
Her goal was to say "cheese" for mac-n-cheese at home.
Goal accomplished

LDC had been anticipating the school bus ride/shuttle for months.

Trashy Christmas

The door decorating theme that I gave my students this year revolved around recycling codes for plastics and for us not to be the Grinch who trashed Christmas.

An excerpt from the student composed letter below, "Our recyclable Christmas tree made out of tires has each layer representing a different recycling code.  Our ornaments coincide with the seven codes of recycling"

Deck the Halls (but hold onto your jewelry)

We were very hands off this year with LDC helping us Deck The Halls
Her job was to add the ornaments to the tree while we working on unpacking other Christmas decorations

Day Off

“How can there be so much difference between a day off and an off day?”

Rejoice.  A day off.
It was even cold and rainy outside this morning- perfect lounging weather.

Yes, I own glass cleaner.  Blame...

Our Wednesday morning wrapped up with a marathon of artwork creations.
The drawing is of LDC and Grandpa on the tractor. The pink lines are leaves falling.
Our afternoon wrapped up with LDC's friends coming over for a hot cocoa bar and Fall leaf rubbings.

Blow softly upon your house.

Looking Back + Tink it is

My Halloween costume ideas were a hard sell this year.
I gave LDC lots of options that "would be really cute and fun".
My personal top picks included Pocahontas and Mac-n-Cheese.
LDC replied with lots of... "No", "No thanks", "Mommy, that is weird"...

Finally a compromise was made.
Tinkerbell.

Thank goodness the weather yesterday was nothing like it is this morning...

An idea as Friday approaches

For the third year in a row- this candy bowl and sign will be on our front porch greeting trick-or-treaters.
(An 80 pound black lab shepherd mix will eagerly be waiting inside to inflict bodily harm if a bad guy is reading this)

A new bowl and sign will be added to the porch, along with a teal pumpkin
Just an idea for folks.
"As you walk around the neighborhood for some Halloween fun this year, you might find yourself wondering why some of the pumpkins are teal.  These pumpkins don’t come from a strange patch, but from a new national campaign called The Teal Pumpkin Project that’s promoting food-allergy awareness this Halloween...
To participate, individuals paint a pumpkin teal and display it, or post a free, printable FARE sign from the organization’s website, then provide non-food treats to trick-or-treaters on Halloween. FARE suggests offering trinkets such as glow sticks, bracelets, vampire fangs and spider rings."
