Yep, they grow up so fast

I hear the saying, "they grow up so fast" A-L-L the time from everyone and anyone....As I was bringing LDC her birthday party cake it was this split-second-on-the-borderline-of bursting-into-tears kinda moment.  Yep, they grow up so fast.  Gracious.  Onto the kiddos.
We shared with our friends that if they ever got lost in the woods- you sit down and blow your whistle until your mama or daddy gets there.  Picture above is us practicing the scenario.
We explored how a compass works
and how a magnifying glass seems to never get old- no matter what age.
We roasted s'mores,
consumed lots of sugar
roasted more s'mores and consumed more sugar.
We explored different tents with different themes...bugs, blankets, balls and beads

We washed outdoor dinnerware dishes- what toddler doesn't love bubbles, containers and water??
I shared stories

We lined up for the pinata.
LOVE
After two rounds of beatings.  We took a different route with the pink pony.  Precious.
So with sugar from s'mores in our belly and sugar from the busting of the pinata- we proceeding to a wee bit more...

Happy 3rd our LDC

too pretty to stay inside

Aiken Mini Bluegrass Festival

Two festivals in one day.  It was just too pretty outside not to enjoy.

Relaxing.  Good for the soul.

Listening to the musicians and soaking in the scene.

Earlier that day....We headed into Hitchcock.

Anticipating all the creepy crawlers, raptors, touch-a-tractor and hounds we would get to see.

Creepy Crawler we were not expecting...Do you see him?

s'mores fun

Well the predicted 90% chance of rain thankfully didn't happen.  We had a beautiful blue sky afternoon for celebrating LDC's 3rd in the backyard.  Pictures of all the kiddos are forth coming.

According to http://www.lovetheoutdoors.com/camping/camping_humor.htm
These are actual comments left on U. S. Forest Service registration sheets and comment cards by backpackers completing wilderness camping trips:
  • “Trails need to be wider so people can walk while holding hands.”
  • “Ban walking sticks in wilderness. Hikers that use walking sticks are more likely to chase animals.”
  • “Trails need to be reconstructed. Please avoid building trails that go uphill.”
  • “Too many bugs and leeches and spiders and spider webs. Please spray the wilderness to rid the area of these pests.”
  • “Chair lifts need to be in some places so that we can get to wonderful views without having to hike to them.”
  • “The coyotes made too much noise last night and kept me awake. Please eradicate these annoying animals.”
  • “Reflectors need to be placed on trees every 50 feet so people can hike at night with flashlights.”
  • “Need more signs to keep area pristine.”
  • “The places where trails do not exist are not well marked.”
  • “Too many rocks in the mountains.”
