throws

Mardi Gras 2014
Getting the floats ready for our backyard parade in the...
staging area.
Loading them up with throws and getting into the...
float line up.
(Flags were used to alleviate the rowdy crowd from running into the parade route traffic.)
Spotter Daddy giving a good luck kiss.
After our mini float parade the kids took turns being enthusiastic sportsmen.
After multiple rounds of beatings we took a different approach.

Overall we had a...colorful....let the good times roll...feast  of a time.

Thanks to Pope Gelasius

Valentine's Day 2014
The origin of St. Valentine, and how many St. Valentines there were, remains a mystery. One opinion is that he was a Roman martyred for refusing to give up his Chrisitan faith. Other historians hold that St. Valentine was a temple priest jailed for defiance during the reign of Claudius. Whoever he was, Valentine really existed because archaeologists have unearthed a Roman catacomb and an ancient church dedicated to Saint Valentine. In 496 AD Pope Gelasius marked February 14th as a celebration in honor of his martyrdom.

Soil and Water

For the last four classes my AP students have been living in the lab.  What made this time so precious to me is all the smiles and minimal questions.  They were on their game and knew their goal.

L-o-v-e these kiddos and their smiles.
From Soil to Water
While LDC and I are enjoying icicles and two snow days from school, Andy is learning every nook at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta airport but making the best of the situation.  Some places LDC and I explored for the "biggest icicle in the yard"...

so much like stars
filling the dark trees
that one could easily imagine
its reason for being was nothing more
than prettiness.” -Mary Oliver
