Vulture Awareness Day- 1st Saturday in Sept. and "I can do it!"

"The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not 'Eureka!' but 'That's funny...' "  I. Asimov

My waterfall.  The end product of flushed toilets (Athens Clarke County Water Reclamation).

Her waterfall (at a SC state park).
Day 12 of my summer started off by learning:
how cow carcasses can be utilized in compost,
the history of public trash collection that started with the Mafia's need to hide dead bodies,
and that Athens GA holds a "Vulture Awareness Day" at its dump.

The class is now done with and I have a plethora of new environmental science material to share with the students in August.

While I was "away at school" for a week LDC vacationed at Granise and Grandpa's.

May Rewind

#1 JEC  First Communion

So my computer got hacked and for the last few weeks I have been itching to download pictures from our adventures this month but "it is what it is" and I have been patiently waiting while the computer tech folks do their (expensive) thing.
Our house has been a disaster, I mean d-i-s-a-s-t-e-r...The kind where you send your kid off to school with socks that don't match (you know the small pile of socks that just sit there waiting for a partner sock to show up but it never happens- that's where I have been pulling from in the mornings)
BUT lots of fun memories this month have been made...May Rewind

"Aunt Lisa, make sure you get a picture of my shoes"

 Mom-Daughter Spring Get Away
Armadillo or Elephant? Austin, Texas April 2014
We played with Aunt Joy and made new friends....
second cousins.  (LDC's new BFF is the man in the yellow.)

We celebrated Cousin Caleb and his beautiful new wife.  Good gracious.  Kleenex.
Mizpah
We missed Aunt Peggy but Willie said it perfectly, "Mom would have been proud".
Cousins.  All smiles.

I think of the garden after the rain

I am sure the post office got a kick out of sending this gigantic gem from Uncle Drew and Aunt Shelby.  LDC loved it.

Our super quick tripod on-the-way-out-the-door-to-mass picture
